Linen Bath/
European and luxurious, linen has always been an everyday product, whether to display status or as a functional material.
Historically used in close contact with the body because of its absorption qualities and especially used as underwear, linen has indeed a special relationship with the well being of our skin.
In a world facing water shortage issues and when even just a 5mins shower uses up to 45 litres of water, it is not sustainable to keep pouring litres and litres of this valuable resource down the drain.
This project questions therefore our water consumption by re-thinking and re-designing the bathroom interior, focusing on the ritual of bathing rather than the water to create new bathing habits.
Through the use of linen textiles, the set up suggests in fact new bathing habits, conceiving a tactility experience to cut down water consumption, while experiencing a new, tactile bathing ritual.
Each textile is made of linen - only textile fibre native to Europe - and presents three different textures that have been thought to stimulate, exfoliate and adapt to the different needs of our skin; the fringe of the towel is a reference to the peshtamel, towel of the Turkish baths, and to the hammam culture.
All the textiles are entirely handwoven.
